DEPARTMENT OF GOOD was originally conceived by Joey Adler, founder of the OneXOne Foundation and former CEO of the fashion brand Diesel Canada.
After leading an OneXOne relief effort following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Adler realized more than relief was needed. Haiti needed to be rebuilt.
Her subsequent efforts resulted in a new kind of community-focused factory facility to be built just outside of Port au Prince. Seeking to extend her vision of community at every point along the supply chain, Adler developed the DEPARTMENT OF GOOD concept.
DEPARTMENT OF GOOD launched online, originally focusing on the Venice, California community. Interest in DEPARTMENT OF GOOD’s model soon lead to plans to expand nationally.
